BRISTOL STREET TREES
BRISTOL STREET TREES
www.BristolStreetTrees.org was established in 2006 to look closely at trends of urban tree removal in Bristol.
When www.BristolStreetTrees.org first began to investigate the problem it became clear that many trees, especially those lining our streets, were being felled.
At the time there was little evidence of any being replaced. Of particular concern was that this was happening without any public consultation, even in conservation areas.
Our Street Trees Are Under Threat

Initially www.BristolStreetTrees.org lobbied Bristol City Council on four fundamental issues:
•Stopping the removal of trees in the public realm without prior consultation with interested parties.
•Instigating a replacement programme for those trees that had been removed.
•Planting new trees in new public locations.
•Planning succession planting to balance anticipated future tree removal or loss.
As a result of our campaign Bristol City Council has now set-up a Tree Forum which is beginning to address these issues.
Additionally, Bristol City Council have now replanted some of our street trees.
BRISTOL’S STREET TREES ARE BEING FELLED AT AN ALARMING RATE
MANY ARE NOT REPLACED
Climate Change Matters!
For the sake of future generations Bristol City Council must again start planting large roadside trees to keep our city cool.
