BRISTOL STREET TREES
BRISTOL STREET TREES
BRISTOL’S STREET TREES ARE BEING FELLED AT AN ALARMING RATE. MOST ARE NOT REPLACED!
•Bristol City Council doesn’t have a published plan for replacement of lost street trees
•Bristol City Council doesn’t know how many street trees have been removed (or tree pits in-filled)
•Bristol City Council doesn’t consult about removal or replacement of street trees
If Bristol is to be a green capital we must halt the removal of our large highway trees. Too often they are NOT REPLACED.
If they are it’s with inappropriate species with no scale, no impact and no consultation.
Climate Change Matters! For the sake of future generations Bristol City Council must again start planting large sustainable roadside trees. To do this the Bristol City Council needs a Street Tree Strategy.
Bristol City Council must: Replant the empty tree pits.
Bristol City Council must: Plan ahead - start planting succession trees.
Bristol City Council must: Plant new trees where space allows.
Bristol City Council also needs to fight claims for subsidence, coordinate between departments, and champion large street trees with large canopies. And it must consult the community!
