Courtesy of Bristol City Council, there are many stumps in Bristol. And filled-in tree pits.

Some of these stumps have now been replaced with trees, although not always of the same species. Unfortunately, the council is still not getting the message about large trees and climate change, and is planting far too many small tree species that will never become large.

Future tree maintenance budgets may be small as a result.

Unfortunately the costs to the NHS, Environment Agency, and building owners and occupiers will outweigh the savings. But the Council didn’t seem to appreciate this. Yet.
